I know this sentiment has probably been expressed before, but people who put up paper towel and toilet paper rolls backwards should be shot.
So, what up?
Tomorrow is my birthday, and as always, it's sort of anticlimatic when it arrives. It's like, WOO!...and...now I'll get ready for work just like I do every morning. BUT, tomorrow night we're going for sushi with Mom & Dad and then we're headed to see The Incredibles, which is supposedly the best movie ever made ever. I am excited but ready to be entirely let down; for some reason I just can't keep myself from reading reviews before I see the movie. If they're glowing, I end up feeling like I should have liked the movie better than I did. If they're ... not ... I end up fixating on all the little nitpicky things the reviewers didn't like, thus diminishing my enjoyment.
Furman Homecoming was a couple of weeks ago -- I was on the reunion committee for our five-year reunion, and it was actually a lot more fun than I was expecting it to be. We had a drop in on the Friday night and then rented out the upstairs of a local bar/restaurant for the Saturday night and had food and beverages. It was great to see everyone and as stupid as it sounds, for a few hours there it was like the past five years hadn't happened. Sure, there were a handful of spouses (spice?), but for the most part it was a lot of the same people that had been together for four years -- that's the blessing and curse of going to a small school, I suppose.
That was a surreal and interesting night, but more on that at a later date.
